World Cup Fever!!!

I have been eating, breathing, and living soccer the past week.  I absolutely go nuts when the World Cup comes around every four years. At no other time can you watch 64 world class (mostly world class anyway) matches in a month. I am just loving seeing all the different teams around the world trying to match up against the different styles of play. It also doesn't hurt that USA is having a decent showing so far.  We are nowhere near being world beaters at this point, but considering just 20 years ago we made our first appearance at the World Cup in 40 years with a team of college players I think we are at a good spot.  USA is at a point where they can be competitive in any match they play. Anyway, that is a post for another time. Here are a few of my highlights from the games I have seen so far.

• South Africa scoring the first goal of the World Cup on a rip to the upper 90.
• Mexico getting its own Dos a Cero on the French.
• USA fighting back from being down 2-0 at the half against Slovenia.
• Brazil beating North Korea with two typical Brazilian goals.
• Japan beating Cameroon with a goal by Honda. You couldn't make that one up.

The cup is halfway through the second round of group games so more excitement is to come. I can't wait to see what will happen next.

If I wasn't already amped enough for the World Cup...

The World Cup is now 3 weeks away. I can't wait. the world's tournament is finally making it's way to Africa and I think it will bring as much excitement and surprises as the last cup held outside of Europe/South America. I have my US jersey (with Wallace, #11 on the back of course) ready to go for our June 12 match with our crooked tooth cousins across the pond (England). Until then I just have to wait...and watch sick commercials like these for Nike soccer.

It's Been A Long Time

It's been a while since I posted anything. I wish I could say that I have just been too busy to get to it, but truthfully I just haven't had the urge to sit down and actually write a post. My mind is be drained due to being bored at time throughout the day and then staying up waaaaay too late at night. I'm going to try to get back to blogging regularly, not just here, but on my family blog (thewallaceperspective.blogspot.com) and my nerdy software development blog (mrwillsw.blogspot.com) as well. It's time for me to become more productive!!

Oh So Bored.

It is amazing how quiet a house seems when you are the only one awake… Yep, as I type this I am sitting at the kitchen table trying to find anything remotely entertaining to do.  Baby Boy has had some trouble learning how to fall asleep on his own which means there have been some rough nights.  For a night owl like me, it isn’t too hard to deal with but the wife needs her 8 hours a night to function.  That means the day after Baby Boy has a rough night, she has an early night in bed.  That leaves me to entertain myself and I’m not very good at it.

I try doing things like catching up on new software developing technologies or do more work learning more about GIMP for my photography, but those things get old fairly quickly.  The Xbox 360 is still packed away in its moving box so I could get that out, but I never really bought many new games for the thing so that’s not a real option either.  I will have to figure out something because there is no sleep in my near future and I can’t twiddle my thumbs all night lol.  Maybe I’ll write a Boredom for Dummies book haha.
