Vacations Rule!!

We made it back from Cabo San Lucas on Wednesday afternoon, and now on Sunday I am fully refreshed. This trip was very much needed and the wife and I took advantage of every opportunity to relax and have a good time. My wife even found a way to persuade me to go para-sailing, which was an adventure of its own. Let's just say there was a bit of screaming involved during the take-off and landing. :-)

I could talk on and on about how great the trip was, but instead I will leave you with a few pictures so you can soak in the fun we had. And don't worry, I'll be sure to comment on each photo.

This is a picture off the beach at our resort. The water was nice and warm, but there was a strong current so you couldn't really swim in it too much. The wife and I both braved the current at separate times, but both ended up with a swimsuit full of sand!!

This is the wife and I at one of the restaurants for dinner. Our smiles are so big because as soon as we walked in they shoved double shots of tequila in front of us to take.

This is us in the air during para-sailing. I had calmed down at this point. I didn't really like the experience of being attached to the boat by a tiny rope, but I would probably do it again so the wife wouldn't have to do it alone.

This is one of the pairs of Speedo racing shorts I wore on the beach. This picture is pretty funny because as the nice ladies who agreed to take our photo did so, this couple walked behind us in some of the shots. In each of the shots, the lady in the couple had her eyes glued to my bottoms haha!!

Like I said before... It was an awesome trip and we are already thinking about planning a Labor Day trip, so maybe you can join us this time!!

Just Had to Share

I get the Dilbert comic sent to my email Inbox each day and the comic strip for today really cracked me up. I am Tech Support at my house and at all of my wife's friends' houses as well. I've had to look at more broken computers than I would care to in a lifetime, haha.

Can't Wait...

....Until my caramel butt is on the beach in beautiful Cabo San Lucas!!!

I've had some crazy times the past few months with the job picking up steam, following the UTA men's basketball team across the state on their championship run, and joining the UTA Young Alumni Association board and helping out with their Graduation Celebration After Party. I had a lot of fun doing all these, but I really need a break. So the wife and I are going to be packing up and heading out to Mexico for a few days to rejuvenate. I plan on soaking in some sun by the pool and beach, drink and eat my way across the all-inclusive resort, and finally put my digital SLR camera and Understanding Exposure book to good use and get some nice artistic photographs. Who knows, maybe I'll challenge Mrs. Braveheart to a photography contest since she is much more experienced than I. No matter what, I am going to make the most of this time away and party like a rock star.

For those who want a little more info on our trip....

Real Mavericks Do It Onstage...

Another season, another disappointment...

Once again the Dallas Mavericks have failed to show up when it mattered most. I've been watching this franchise for most of my life and I have grown as the organization has, but sadly I have had far more success. Dallas has consistently underachieved and the two times they have been on the cusp of doing something great (1987, 2005) they have choked and not sealed the deal. This is something that causes me a lot of frustration. I have put in a lot of time standing behind this team. I was rooting for this team back in the 1990s when they were the second-worst franchise in the NBA (thank goodness for the Timberwolves) and were struggling to keep from setting the record for most losses in an NBA season. I still remember getting chased across the playground because I wasn't one of the cool kids cheering on the Bulls and Michael Jordan. I wanted to stick with my hometown boys.

So after over 20 years of watching the Mavs I've come to realize that this is not a franchise that will win a championship. They will have some seasons where they might get close, but it will just be a tease to cause more frustrations. But hey, they never said being a Maverick fan was easy. :-)

That being said, I do have one team of Mavericks that has given me joy and finished something they started. My UTA Mavericks showed more heart this year then the Dallas Mavericks have shown during their whole existence. I kind of wish the school had put up more of a fight when Dallas came in and stole our mascot in 1980. This group of overpaid athletes don't deserve to be called Mavericks because real Mavericks win championships and the only championship banner for a Maverick team is hanging above a theater stage in Arlington...

Real Mavericks take part in things like this after big games...

The Inaugural Post

Well, every blog has to have a first post so this is it.

I have another blog that I mainly use to put out information on my "nerdyness" and it wasn't the place for some of the things I wanted to blog about, such as what types of things I have been up to and funny stuff I see. So this led me to create this Black Braveheart blog. I plan to post pictures from things I do and keep an updated dialog about what I have been up to over time. I know not many people will read it, but much like my nerdy blog it will keep me entertained. Hopefully some of you will be entertained by it as well.

With that said... here's something for you fans of 24 who have been in withdrawal. I found an old pilot video from 1994. Check it out...
