25 Random Things About Me

If you are on Facebook, then you know this is running rampant on the site. Here is the list I posted.

  1. I like to dance, especially in my chair at work. I have been caught dropping it like it's hot in my chair at work on more than one occasion.
  2. I am a bit of a genetic freak in that I build muscle really easily. If only I had the discipline to go to the gym regularly.
  3. I had blood drawn from my arm for the first time ever in October and was paranoid about the whole thing.
  4. I am a stutterer. I do well most of the time, but if I get really excited or tired all bets are off.
  5. Deep down I really want to be a comedian. I have dreams of being the next Jamie Foxx if I could just get the courage to start taking the stage.
  6. If I could drink anything for the rest of my life it would be mango green tea.
  7. I met my wife when I was 17 and never looked back.
  8. I have become interested in photography and have been reading any photography books I can get my hands on.
  9. I went to Japan to play soccer against some of the high schools there when I was 16.
  10. I've seen every single episode of The Jamie Foxx Show.
  11. I have worn tight-ass Speedo shorts on two different vacation trips.
  12. I once showed up at my parents' house on Christmas Day dressed as Tyrone Biggums from Chappelle Show. You should have seen the look on my mother's face.
  13. I cried for about 30 minutes straight at my wedding...and then did it again when I witnessed UTA Basketball make it to the national tournament for the first time ever.
  14. I have been to a nude beach.
  15. When I was 7 years old I went to the Michael Jackson Bad tour concert. If I had known what I now know about old MJ back then I could have gotten backstage!!
  16. I had my baptism last November and it was the best decision I could have ever made.
  17. I have never lived in an apartment. I went straight from the dorms in college to my own house.
  18. Somewhere in my parents' house there is a VHS tape of me break dancing in the J.T. Stevens talent show.
  19. In the first grade, I was one of the favorites to win the spelling bee for my grade, but I got chicken pox two days before the bee and couldn't compete. (Still bitter...)
  20. Before last year, I had not visited Oklahoma in over 20 years... by choice...
  21. I like to watch the same movies over and over when they are playing on one of the DirecTV movie channels. (I've watched Juno over 15 times already on HBO..)
  22. I'm a big fan of the UT-Arlington Mavericks Men's basketball team. I followed them all the way down to Houston for their first ever conference championship.
  23. I won the Most Outstanding Computer Science & Engineering Master's Thesis at the 2008 UTA Engineering Awards Banquet.
  24. I met Steven from Real World Las Vegas in the Cabo airport. He was pretty cool, but he looked nervous that I was going to ask him some questions about his season because his wife was sitting right next to him.
  25. I'm going to be a father soon and I can't think of a better gift I could ever receive.

UTA President Hangs With Diddy

Click here to see a TIME Magazine photo of the University of Texas at Arlington President James Spaniolo (bottom right) hanging with Diddy, Jay Z, and Beyonce. Who knew my alma mater's president was balling like that, haha.

Inauguration Attire

I decided to be bold and wear my Obama shirt to work today. I figured if anyone asked me why I was wearing political attire I would say it was support attire. You know, just like wearing a Philly Eagles shirt...

A Great Moment in American History

Everyone should use their DVR or Tivo tomorrow to record the inauguration. Tomorrow will be a historic day and I know I will be more than happy to witness it. I can honestly say that I never thought I would see the nation's first Black president before I turned 50. I think this is the beginning of a new chapter in this country. Not only did we elect the first Black president, but we also elected the first interracial president. I think that is a bigger point that is being overlooked.

President Barack Obama is not just a Black man. He is just as much Caucasian as he is Black. That really excites me because I have my own little interracial child on the way and hopefully more to follow. When they come and ask me if they can one day become president, I will sit them down and show them the man who is just like them getting inaugurated. This is bigger than we think and will have a long lasting effect on the future.

So tune in and watch. I will be watching from my desk at work (shh!!) while I sport my Obama Change shirt.

Inauguration Day as Holiday??

Am I the only one who thinks the Presidential Inauguration Day should be a national holiday???

This year will be a true historic event for this nation and so many people will not truly be able to be involved because they will have to work. I have to work, but will be able to easily follow the day via the Internet. Others are not as lucky and will have to resort to recording the inauguration and watch it later.

So I am putting it out there. The Presidential Inauguration should be designated as a national holiday. It only comes once every four years so I don't think it would be too difficult for companies to conform.

While we're at it...go ahead and add election day to the list of holidays. ;-)

The First Time Ever

I almost forgot....

I was in Mexico for a week to attend a wedding for two of our friends and not one time was I asked, "Have you seen the movie Braveheart?"

That is truly amazing. I get asked that question on just about a daily basis, but none of the wedding guests I met asked me a single time. They probably just didn't think about it, but they also might have been distracted by me wearing tiny Speedo bottoms.

Birthday Reflections

I just celebrated my 28th birthday yesterday. I don't feel old or anything, but I do feel that I aged in the past year in a good way. I think this was the year I finally took the final steps toward manhood and left the boy in me behind. Though I am sad to see the boy go, I am glad to finally be the man I need to be.

I have some exciting things coming my way in the future and I know that they won't always be the most enjoyable things to endure. However, I do know that they will all be for a greater purpose in my life. In the meantime, when I am faced with some difficulties I have something I can look at for inspiration. I can look at it and it will bring an instant smile to my face.

I don't know who this little person is yet, but I can't wait for us to meet so I can hopefully give him or her the same inspiration I have received.

Am I A Wedding Photographer in the Making??

The wife and I just got back from a lovely wedding in Mexico for our two friends Cole & Becca. It was an awesome time and I decided to try getting some good shots of the wedding. Well my "trying" ended up in me taking over 300 pictures between the rehearsal dinner, to the wedding, and the reception. I pulled together some of the pictures into a web album to share.

*Note** The pictures from the rehearsal dinner are first and were taken with a small point and shoot camera. All other pictures from the wedding forward were taken with my Sony a100 DSLR camera.
